(HALIFAX, NS)
The Atlantic Football League all-stars were announced last week and the Dalhousie Tigers were pleased to find eight of their players on the AFL’s list.
Rookie defensive end Eric Purcell earned an AFL rookie of the year nod after a highly successful season off the edge.
Standout senior players include running back Zack Leger, wide receiver Alistair Chauhan, and defensive tackle Jordan Grant finishing out successful university football careers.
Rounding out the offensive squad includes rookie running back and return specialist Zacchary Kuhn, and second-year lockdown offensive tackle Owen Smith. On defence, second year players Liam Manson (LB) and Gordon Brown (DB) earned their first career all-stars.
When asked about his all-stars for 2017, Head Coach Mark Haggett said “We are very proud of this program and all involved. We had a very young squad of overachievers this season in which 90% are returning. We look forward to another rigorous recruiting and training off-season. The future is very bright for this program given our successes this year.”
