Job Description:

The Dalhousie Tigers Football Club is currently seeking an Equipment Manager for the upcoming season and beyond. After winning the AFL championship in 2021, The Tigers seek to continue their legacy founded on a standard of success across the entire club. This is an incredible volunteer opportunity to assist football operations year-round, however, most of the work occurs during the season, which runs from August to November (approximately 12-15 hours per week + games).

About the Role:

Our Equipment Manager oversees all equipment and supplies for the team, as well as game-day operations. Working alongside the Club Executive, Medical/Training Team, and Coaching Staff, the Equipment Manager ensures that our players are fully supported to play safely, and look good doing so!

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an up-to-date inventory of all equipment and supplies
  • Schedule equipment room hours of operation to equip players prior to the season, and accommodate any needs prior to practices and games
  • Dispense and help fit all equipment during pre-season
  • Ensure uniforms are laundered weekly for season-play 
  • Help ensure proper setup and accurate data collection of Football Helmets sensors
  • Assist with the purchase and distribution of clothing and equipment for team and coaches
  • Perform periodic re-inventory of stock to ensure appropriate replacement timeline
  • Maintain spreadsheet for all team uniforms and purchased equipment
  • Prepare teams for travel and make arrangements for lockers and supplies for visiting teams as needed.
  • Attend team practices and games
  • Be available prior to home games to distribute uniforms, and attend to equipment repair, etc
  • Travel with the team for road games (Full day commitment).
  • Assist in maintaining team budget for equipment and facilities with Club executive
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Recruit and hire site staff to help with equipment, and work home games, as required 
  • Site Supervisor for athletic events assigned
  • Coordinate reconditioning service for football helmets and all other equipment
  • Attend occasional pre-season meetings with coaches to plan uniform and equipment pickups and related procedures
  • Maintain Football Trophy Cases
  • Secure and lock all Dal Football facilities at the end of all games and practices, or ensure it is completed
  • Communicate daily with Coaches and Club executives to ensure efficient running of the department and home games

Basic Required Knowledge and Skills:

  •  Ability to work effectively and in a positive manner with university students and coaches
  •  Ability to work cooperatively with adults and to direct sports activities in a positive manner
  •  Well-developed organizational and problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to multitask, flexible, highly organized, motivated and independent
  •  Excellent oral and written communication
  •  Understanding of sporting clubs, specifically football, would be an asset
