Linebackers

Coach Freddie Jacks is a second year coach with Dalhousie Football. She brings a wealth of football experience, game-strategy and perspective to the Tigers linebacker corps. In tandem with Coaches Mpuanga and Downey, the Tigers linebackers boast one of the top coaching selections in the AFL.
Coach Jacks has been playing tackle football since 2015 for the Halifax Xplosion, the only women’s tackle football team in Nova Scotia. The Halifax Xplosion is part of the Maritime Women’s Football League (MWFL). Freddie and the Xplosion are the reigning champions from the 2019 season. She acts as the teams middle linebacker, long snapper and special teams guru. She has been a team captain since 2017. Alongside her career in the MWFL, Coach Jacks has played outside linebacker for Team New Brunswick at the 2016 Women’s National Championship.
Coach Jacks has been the recipient of a variety of awards including MWFL All-Star (2016, 2017, 2018), Xplosion Team MVP (2017), Football Nova Scotia Senior Women’s Defensive MVP (2017), Xplosion Defensive MVP (2016), and Championship Game MVP (2018, 2019).
She graduated from Dalhousie University first in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science, and again in 2020 with a Master of Resource and Environmental Management.
