From Arts to Science & Engineering, Dalhousie University is one of the top academic and research institutions in Canada. The Dalhousie Football Club is proud to require all players to be enrolled in full-time classes at Dal, building the next generation of leaders in the workplace.

Scholarships

Many scholarships are available through Dalhousie and other funding services. We highly encourage all players to apply for scholarships. Follow the link below or talk to your high school guidance counselor for more opportunities and assistance.

Receiving a high quality education is the utmost priority for our team, and coaches maintain an open-door policy when it comes to discussing academics. We are proud to celebrate the many athletes yearly in our program who meet the Academic All-Star designation. We also maintain a mandatory study hall on Mondays for first-year athletes.

Our program is proud to have had students from a variety of levels of education nd programs pass through our doors with great success, including Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, and more.

ATHLETICS

The Dalhousie Football Club competes in the Atlantic Football League (AFL) comprised of four teams, including the UNB Reds, Holland Hurricanes & Saint John Falcons. The Tigers brought home their fourth championship win in 2022.

Practice Schedule

SUNDAY: Off (In-Season games may occasionally be scheduled on Sundays)

MONDAY: Study Hall (Mandatory for First-Year Athletes)

TUESDAY: Film (Maximum 1.5 hours)
WEDNESDAY: 7:30pm - 8:30pm Meetings, 9:00pm - 11:00pm Practice
THURSDAY: 7:30pm - 8:30pm Meetings, 9:00pm - 11:00pm Practice

FRIDAY: Walkthrough Practice 7-9pm
SATURDAY: Game Day

Medical Team

The Dalhousie Football Club prides itself on offering exemplary injury care and management to our players, through our dedicated team Physiotherapist, Lisa Wilson, and full team of student trainers. Players are encouraged to take part in voluntary additional screening and research to monitor their health and contribute to life-changing research taking place at Dalhousie University.

Dalhousie Football Club is proud to have been the first University Football team in Canada to roll out Riddell In-Site Helmets for all players, monitoring their head impacts during games and practice, following our strict health policies.

We have also rolled out Guardian Caps for use during practices, an additional soft-shell layer of protection to help our athletes train harder, faster and safer.

Player health is the number one priority of our program, and we continue to look out for further opportunities to execute on this goal.
