Born and raised in the Halifax area, Coach Francis grew up playing football, starting with Minor Football with the North West Nighthawks Association. He then moved on to play at Halifax West High School, where he was part of a Provincial Championship in 1991. He then joined St Pats High for a very enjoyable season with the Fighting Irish. He was also a member of the Provincial Team in 93′ and 94′. Following high school, he then played in the senior men’s league with the Halifax Buccaneers winning 2 championships. After that he then moved on to play for the St Mary’s Huskies in 1998, followed by 3 seasons for the Acadia Axeman where he enjoyed playing corner and returning kicks, while studying Kinesiology. This was followed by 5 seasons in the MFL for the Dartmouth Knights, winning a championship his final season.
After his playing career was ended, he started his coaching journey where he enjoyed 3 years as a head coach with the BSMF program coaching at the Mites and Atom level, where he still helps when possible with the Atom/peewee teams today. He then joined our Dalhousie Football Tigers as the Defensive back coach, winning an AFL championship in 2016. He now takes on the role as Defensive coordinator, a position he takes great pride and passion. As a coach he strongly believes in the importance of giving back to the game that has given me so much.
