Quarterbacks Coach

12764821_10156454318875198_3583656329788950240_oCoach Nick Hunsley has 13 Years of dedicated football experience, and has developed his craft as a starting Quarterback for the 11 most recent.  Nick grew up in Seabright, Nova Scotia, beginning his football career in 2004 with the Timberlea Titans organization, where he played for four seasons winning a Bantam Championship in 2007, and earning the Martime Football Championship MVP Award.

Nick played on two Nova Scotia Provincial teams: 2010 Canada Cup at Acadia University, and the 2009 Wilson Cup in Montreal, Quebec, winning Game MVP.

Coach Hunsley began his high school career at Sir John A. Macdonald High School winning Rookie of the year in 2008, and Team MVP in 2009. Nick also was awarded the Janice Naugler Award in 2009 presented to the player that demonstrates boundless commitment to the team, school and community and who, through effort and integrity, brings about change for his work with the youth and minor teams in the community.

In the fall football off-seasons, Nick also played four seasons in the Halifax Area Spring Leagues, as a member of the U-16 Halifax Seahawks, and the U-19 Halifax Hornets. Nick also coached two Timberlea Renegades Teams, U-14 in 2014 and U-16 in 2013, as an Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach; one of which would win the League and the Maritime Championships.

After graduating high school, Nick went on to begin his collegiate career with the Holland College Hurricanes in Prince Edward Island, for their inaugural football season. Nick became the starting Quarterback where he played from 2010-2012, earning the Most Dedicated Player Award and winning an Atlantic Football League Championship in 2011 – Holland College’s first. Nick also graduated from the Atlantic Police Academy in 2012 where he sang the National Anthem for his Graduation Ceremony.

In 2013 Nick transferred to Dalhousie University where he would thrive playing Quarterback for the Tigers for four seasons. Nick was awarded the Leadership Award in 2014 and an Atlantic Football League All-Star in 2015. In Nick’s final year of eligibility, the Dalhousie Tigers starting Quarterback would be a key part of their 2016 Atlantic Football League Championship – the school’s first since 1956. Hunsley was also named the 2016 Atlantic Football League MVP, an Atlantic Football League All-star for Quarterback, and Dalhousie’s Team MVP.

In total, Nick has played seven seasons in the Atlantic Football League (2010-2016), consisting of 53 Games, 2 Championships, passing for approximately 80 TDs and 10,000 Yards. Nick will look to bring all of his leadership, knowledge, and experience with him in 2017 when he joins the Tiger’s Coaching Staff as our Quarterbacks Coach and Assistant Offensive Coordinator.
